Dancehall musician Soul Jah Love has been sucked in a wrangle between two South Africa-based promoters Prince Sithole and Fungai Dege that have signed the artiste for gigs across the Limpopo River in the same month.
Dege who is one of the directors of Mhofu Promotions alleges that Sithole sent him threats after learning that he had arranged a show featuring Soul Jah Love, Alick Macheso and Black Missionaries to be held in Cape Town on September 20.
Sithole has another gig where Soul Jah Love will share the stage with Freeman, Guspy Warrior and Lady Squanda on September 6.
“We posted the advert on our Facebook page but surprisingly on Sunday he (Sithole) sent a threat to us saying we were taking his artist, Soul Jah Love,” said Dege.
“The dates are different and it is very possible for Soul Jah Love to perform at these two events without any problem but he decided to threaten us for taking the artist for our show.”
Dege alleges that their rival managed to get into their WhatsApp group and sent insulting messages.
“I don’t know how he managed to get into our group.
“He started sending messages saying we are disturbing his business yet he at one point tried to disrupt some of our shows.”
Sithole refuted the claims accusing Mhofu of disrupting his show.
“Why would I stand in their way. They are actually planning to disrupt my shows and they are fabricating stories about me.
“Those chat messages they are showing people are fabricated. Let them produce enough evidence that shows that I am disturbing them,” he fumed.
He said he had already signed a contract with Soul Jah Love and he was not going to reverse the contract.
Soul Jah Love could not be reached for comment yesterday as his mobile phone was not reachable but sources close to the musician said he would perform at both shows.
