Young people can do great things when they put their minds to it and come together for common good.
This is true of Soulfire Worship.
I don’t like to use the word band, as, to me, that feels a little cliché.
We are a team – a collective some might say – of musicians from different parts of the wide ranging Christian faith who have come together for one reason and that is to worship God Almighty.
We know that individuals from different churches and Christianity in general can be different in the way they carry themselves, their rules and regulations and so many other things but one of the things we certainly have in common is our love for worship. We may worship in different ways but we worship the same God.
SoulFire Youth, from which Soulfire Worship hails, started out as part of Ignite youth founded by the dynamic Tadzi Madzima who wanted the members of Ignite Youth Organisation to have a spiritual outlet. She later wheaned Soulfire Youth to be sister organisation to Ignite Youth.
Soulfire is a non denominational Christian Youth hub where young people from different walks of the Christian faith can come together to express themselves without judgement, away from the formal and sometimes ‘intimidating’ church environment where youths sometimes feel they may not have a voice.
Soulfire has a team of leaders and is a place for young people to come together and worship God and learn from the other parts of Christianity to create a unified Christian Family.
With all our different individual worship techniques and styles, we hope to create our own unique sound like James Brown did with his music.
You’ve probably seen that worship is at the core of SoulFire but you are probably wondering “why is it (Worship) so important?”. Aside from prayer, worship is a way of communicating with God.
When you cannot find the right words to say in prayer Worship is a great way of saying what you want or need to say to our Heavenly Father, we express our love for Him, for who He is. But worship doesn’t only come in the form of singing. It has different forms such as playing an instrument, poetry/spoken word, giving and many others and when you find yours you will feel the Spirit of the Lord.
I can personally testify that as a Christian one of the best ways to feel the Spirit is through worship and with worship being so important, our slogan or catchphrase in Soulfire is: “ A soul on fire to worship God”. And our catchphrase means that we are so moved by the drive to worship that our mandate as a collective is to worship God with our all, from our different churches and show others the love of God through worship. In this advent of Covid-19, we are also saying as young people, let us show our love for one anther and for our families by being responsible. For those amongst us who are legible for vaccination, let us get out there and be vaccinated and help be part of achieving herd immunity. But most importantly please mask up, even when hanging out with friends, wash you hands, sanitise as much as possible and socially distance, please do not relax in following the stipulated measures, this pandemic is real.
Not only do we encourage personal development in our organisation but growth of our communities as well. We also partnered Praise Foundation to reach out to communities for that very purpose.
We believe there are many ways that young people can lend a hand even if they may not have resources.
For instance after the Cyclone Idai disaster, we, alongside Ignite Youth Organisation, were amongst the many people who volunteered our time to assist with sorting and packing relief goods We recently hosted a virtual concert, very socially distanced, dubbed Just Worship in conjunction with Faith Ministries Avondale, to ensure young people stay engaged and get spiritual nourishment even during these tough times, while observing all Covid-19 protocol. We also took part in Arise Fest, hosted by The rise of a chosen Generation.
We hope to partner with more amazing like-minded people to impact young people and make a difference in our communities.
So this is my invitation to you the reader to come and worship with us if you have a soul on fire to worship God who has been so wonderful and loving to us all.
Come as you are, We will welcome you with open arms while socially distancing of course.
