THE Southern Region Soccer League served up another weekend of thrills and surprises, with Blackrock producing the headline result after upsetting Bulawayo City 2-1 in a fiercely contested Match Day 11 encounter at White City Stadium.

The victory saw Blackrock continue their impressive run while handing former Premier Soccer League outfit Bulawayo City a setback in their quest for a return to the top flight.

At the same venue, Hwange fought back to secure a 1-1 draw against Talen Vision in a result that ensured the coalminers remained on top of the log.

At Chiefs Village, Bulawayo Warriors collected maximum points courtesy of a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Nkayi United. The result further underlined the Warriors’ growing confidence as they continue to climb the standings.

Aqua Stars and Mosi Rovers shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, with both sides left ruing missed opportunities in an entertaining affair.

Former football giants Zimbabwe Saints kept their promotion hopes alive with a convincing 2-0 triumph over Zebra Revolution at Luveve B Arena. The win was another reminder that Chikwata are determined to reclaim their place among Zimbabwe’s elite clubs.

Victoria Falls City Herentals were equally impressive, recording a 2-0 victory over Casmyn at Chinotimba Stadium to maintain pressure on the league’s frontrunners.

Meanwhile, goals proved elusive at Chakona where Megawatt and Jordan settled for a goalless stalemate in a tightly contested match.

Boss0 90 emerged as one of the weekend’s biggest winners after coming from Khami with all three points following a 2-1 victory over the hosts.

The round was completed by a 1-1 draw between Njube Spurs and Imbizo, a result that reflected the evenly matched nature of the encounter.

With the championship race entering a crucial phase, every point is becoming increasingly valuable as clubs battle for the coveted ticket to next season’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
