adminStand tickets for this weekend’s Soweto Derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs have officially been sold out, Stadium Management South Africa (SMSA) announced yesterday.
Orlando Pirates Football Club Media Department official Thandi Merafe and the hosts for the Soweto derby confirmed that all of the general tickets were gone.
A statement read, “The stand tickets for the derby between Kaizer Chiefs FC and Orlando Pirates this Saturday, March 15 at the FNB Stadium, have been sold out, confirmed Stadium Management SA (Pty) Ltd.”
SMSA further indicated that there are still tickets available in the Hisense Lounge and these tickets can be purchased through the Computicket channels. The tickets in the Hisense Lounge cost R877,80 pp including vat. Hisense Lounge will give you a prime view on the west side of stadium, level 2, private ablutions inside facility and food and beverages will be purchased inside the facility.
While the Soweto Derby is always a big affair in South African football, this season it could see the Glamour Boys open up an almost unassailable gap on their fierce rivals, while a Pirates win may put them within touching distance of the Amakhosi.
Around 90,000 people are expected to cram into the stadium this weekend ahead of the 15h30 start, with gates opening for fans at around 11h30. Chiefs and Pirates take on Platinum Stars and Moroka Swallows respectively on Wednesday evening as they look to get a win under their belt before Saturday’s showpiece.
On the logistics Stadium Management SA (SMSA) together with the Johannesburg Metro Police (JMPD) have initiated more stringent measures to regulate parking management systems at the FNB Stadium for the upcoming derby clash on Saturday.
Fans who are attending the match are cautioned that there will be no general public parking inside the stadium precinct and offending vehicles will be towed away. Strictly no parking tickets will be sold on site on the day of the match; illegal (pavement) parking will be regulated by JMPD and stadium security.
Due to historical traffic congestion at the Stadium; SMSA urges fans to arrive early, gates open at 11h30.
“We strongly advise the use of public transportation, a vast number of transport systems in place for the event include Rea Vaya, Metrorail, minibus shuttle services and taxis.
“Strict road closures will be in operation in the stadium precinct from 9h00 and private vehicles without a parking ticket will not have access to the stadium,” the statement said. – SABC.
