SPARTANS coach Lindsy Tudor-Cole says they want to see their club grow after successfully defending the Harare Amateur Swimming Senior Championships title at Les Brown Pool over the weekend.
The provincial meet is held over two weekends and Spartans who took the lead from the first phase a week ago, successfully defended the title after finishing tops with a combined team score of 2 752.
This is the third consecutive season they have claimed the title.
“I was very happy, they performed very well and really excelled. We want to grow more and level up to a higher level.
“Next on our programme is the nationals and then South Africa nationals and levels,” said Tudor-Cole. The competition, which caters for Harare clubs is open to other interested clubs and individuals.
HAS clubs — Spartans, Vikings, Sharks, Highlands, Wild Orcas, Harare Otters and Pirates Zimbabwe — were joined by Dorado, Falcons, Zimbabwe Masters and Dolphins for the meet.
It was a repetition of last year for the top three, with Vikings coming in on second position after amassing 1 913 points and Sharks accumulated 1 779 points to finish third.
Dorado Swim Club were fourth, followed by Highlands on fifth place.
Harare Otters and Wild Orcas were sixth and seventh respectively. Dolphins placed eighth while Pirates Zimbabwe finished ninth.
The Falcons and Zimbabwe Masters completed the table, finishing 10th and 11th. HAS board marketing convenor Tendai Mazike said they are now working on their provincial team for the National Senior Championships scheduled for early next year.
Some of the swimmers are also looking forward to compete in South Africa having made the times for the different competitions in the neighbouring country.
