Speaker of the House of Assembly Advocate Jacob Mudenda has hailed Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Minister Monica Mutsvangwa for initiating media reforms.
Speaking during the two-day joint induction workshop for the portfolio committees on Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services and the Information and Communication, Technology, Postal and Courier Services, Adv Mudenda said Parliament through its committees should ensure that the Executive puts in place a conducive environment for the media and ICTs to flourish.
The joint induction workshop was held in Nyanga from Monday.
“I think in my view that the current Minister of Information is positive about media reforms especially when repealing the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act as well as the reforms of the Law and Order Maintenance Act,” he said.
He also said media freedom must not endanger public law and order.
Clerk of Parliament Mr Kennedy Chokuda emphasised the need for integrity when legislators conduct Parliament business.
