SPEAKER of Parliament Hon Jacob Francis Mudenda is sponsoring a netball and football extravaganza in Dete this coming weekend.
The event will feature eight netball and as many football teams drawn from Binga, Hwange and Dete.

Hon Mudenda, a former teacher at nearby Marist Brothers College, is sponsoring an event which has attracted teams from Dete, Hwange and Binga and is set to be an annual event.

One of the organisers Ndodana Masuku, the Southern Region, Zifa Area Zones boss expressed delight in Hon Mudenda’s gesture. He said that will go a long way in boosting the drive to see sport grow outside urban areas.

“We are excited about being involved in organising this event. It is a shot in the right direction as we try to see competitive sport grow in previously marginalized areas.

We have always said there is so much talent in rural places and we are proud to present some of our teams with very good talent. We are happy that in the last two years we have produced a player who has even played for the national team from Dete,” said Masuku.
