Spirit Embassy Bulawayo church branch held a Uebert Angel Cup Soccer tournament with over 400 people attending, which had the aim of winning souls through sport at Bulawayo Municipal grounds last week.
Spirit Embassy pastor for Matabeleland Pastor Patrick Mutizwa said that besides winning souls the event was held to celebrate Uebert Angel’s birthday.
“We realised that as Christians in everything we do we have to be impacting the community and spreading the gospel at all costs so this is one of the things we are doing to engage everyone. We were playing with other ministries that came and those that won got their rewards and it wasn’t an issue of soccer but that of reaching out to lives.
“We are trying by all means to have a situation whereby the church is not confined to a building because the Bible says, ‘go ye therefore which means we have to make sure that the church is visible and gospel is accessible, so we realised that we cannot get in some places with just the Bible but we have to do what they are doing to reach to them,” said Mr Mutizwa.
He added it was their first time to have such an event in Bulawayo, although it has been running for three years in Harare.
