Gospel choir Spirit Praise will launch their second album, “Vatatu Mumwechete”, at Parklane Hall (former Rainbow Theatre) in the capital tomorrow. The six-track album has songs “Mambo Jesu”, Hossana”, “Hakuna Zita”, “Vatatu Mumwechete”, “Lord we come”, and “Let There be Light”. Lovemore Tavengwa, director of the group said they were happy with the response to their songs from the first album titled “Nguva Yatokwana”.
“We had our first album that was well received by music lovers. We are hopeful that the second one will do the same,” he said. On the songs they featured Mathias Mhere and Pastor G. The two will also be part of the album launch and are expected to perform the songs they recorded with the group.
“All the artists featured on the event will come and perform with us,” said Tavengwa. He said they have managed to give different artistes a platform to showcase their talents. “You will note that different members have composed the songs. We have realised that within the group are talented artistes, therefore, have given them equal platform to shine,” he said.
He admitted that choice of songs have been affecting some of their performances.
“We had songs we could not play on platforms such as weddings but during worship sessions. So this album has songs that can be played at any event,” he said. Mhere yesterday promised fireworks at the event saying he will do what he knows best on stage.
“We are happy to be working with the group in serving God. People should come and see us performing songs we have worked with them and new stuff,” said Mhere. Last year the group performed in different parts of the country with several musicians.
