THE Sports and Recreation Commission have stepped in with full backing for the Warriors ahead of the AFCON finals.
SRC chairperson Nathaniel Madzivanyika said the Commission was ready to stand with the team and help them meet the demands of the assignment.
“We celebrate, honour, and support our senior men’s national football team, the Warriors, as they prepare to carry our flag at AFCON in Morocco,” he said.
“This is something deeply rooted in who we are as Zimbabweans; we are a people who believe in coming together in such times.
“We surround our sons with the strength of a community when they embark on a journey of national significance.”
The Warriors face Egypt first in Group B, then Angola and South Africa in a draw that leaves no room for error.
Four points is the minimum target if they hope to reach the knockout stage for the first time.
As the SRC, and Zimbabwe above everything, we are proud of the structures that ZIFA have built while preparing the team,” he said.
“Strengthening these structures and motivating stakeholders as we journey towards AFCON and particularly encouraging the spirit of collaboration between the game and stakeholders is key.
“To the players, this means that you carry the hopes of a nation.
“You have earned this trust through hard work and dedication and as the SRC, we believe in you and we stand firmly behind each Warrior.”
