STUDENTS from St Columbus High School under the media club have launched an online magazine focused on tackling social injustices.
This was done in partnership with the Modi Foundation founded by Cde Raj Modi who is the Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce, Economic Empowerment Group Bulawayo chairman Bukhosi Ncube, Vice President of ZNCC Matabeleland Louis J Herbst, Joseph Scott manager of Youth Innovation Hub and Gift Mutsonziwa Creative Director Of Duelcore Technologies.
The official launch was last month and was graced by students from Dominican Convent, Riverdale Academy and Gifford High Schools. SuperMed and Toppers took part in educating a crowd of 800 pupils about the dangers of drugs and gave in prices.
The magazine has members from the St Columbus media club – Ropafadzo Nyika (president and photographer of media club and pioneer of the club), Tawona Tsikira (social media manager), Nkosana Prince Moyo (projects manager), Donnell Mutoredzanwa (editor), Michell Simango (journalist), Angel G. Ndlovu, (magazine organiser), Mr Tazibona (media patron), Jainos Mugova and Chelssie Phiri (St Columbus mail ambassador).
Said Mutsonziwa: “The Youth Innovation Hub still follows its mandate to spread computer literacy and ICT in Matabeleland which is quite low, especially in Matabeleland North and South provinces. St Columbas will launch its documentary this week which will showcase the journey of making the magazine.
“The other schools that have achieved this milestone with Modi Foundation are Milton High School and Gifford High School.
“The magazine focuses on issues to do with drug substance abuse, and cyberbullying and seeks to spread digitalisation and boost brand visibility of the school.” – @mthabisi_mthire
