St Faiths, MSUAS revel in volleyball, debate awards

ST Faith’s High School, a bastion of academicexcellence in Manicaland, run by the Anglican Church Diocese of Manicaland, hasproved to be a master of all trades after clinching the 2025 NationalAssociation of Secondary Heads (NASH) national volleyball championship.
The school, renowned for its outstanding academic performance, has not been as notable in extramural activities – until last weekend.
St Faith’s High School outplayed other provincial champions in spectacular fashion to lift the coveted national volleyballaccolade.
Nash Manicaland head-in-charge of volleyball, Taurai Rukiseni, commended the performance of schools representing the province at the national finals. “Manicaland is a powerhouse in the game of volleyball. St Faith’s played exceptionally well, and their victory is a testament to the province’s dominance in the sport. Their playmaker led by example throughout the competition.
“The provincial girls’ representatives at the national finals, Mweyamutsvene High School, also performed well even though they did not get to be on the winners’ podium,” he said. Meanwhile, Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences (MSUAS) students, Tadiwanashe Kanyemba and Tanatswa Magwaza emerged victorious in the SAYWHAT Speak and Solve National debate competition.
In a statement, MSUAS wrote: “The chairman of Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences (MSUAS) Council, Dr Blessing Mudavanhu, Vice Chancellor, Professor Albert Chawanda, University Council, Senate, Staff and Students, proudly extend heartfelt congratulations to Tadiwanashe Kanyemba and Tanatswa Magwaza for emerging victorious in the SAYWHAT Speak and Solve National Debate Competition.
“The two exceptional students represented MSUAS with distinction, triumphing over 15 other universities from across Zimbabwe. Their stellar performance earned the team a trophy, medals, laptops and certificates.
“This remarkable achievement is a testament to MSUAS’ growing academic and intellectual footprint. It underscores the university’s unwavering commitment to nurturing excellence, critical thinking, and civic engagement among its student body. Join us in celebrating this milestone. Your achievement makes us proud and further cements MSUAS’ place on the national academic stage.”
