Hellenic won the Under-16 cup and Mbare Academy, who received additional funding from National Foods, won the Under-15 Cup.
There were four prizes — the cup, plate, bowl and shield — for each age group from Under-14 to Under-19.
The plate was won by Eaglesvale in the Under-19 group, Vainona in the Under-17 group, Prince Edward in the Under-16 group, Churchill in the Under-15 group and Hellenic in the Under-14 group.
Heritage took the Under-19 bowl, Eaglesvale the Under-17 bowl, Mbare Academy the Under-16 bowl, Allan Wilson the Under-15 bowl and Prince Edward the Under-14 bowl.
The shields were won by Prince Edward (Under-19 and Under-17), Eaglesvale (Under-16), Hellenic (Under-15) and Churchill (Under-14).
Eleven schools fielded teams in the St John’s College Seven-a-Side Rugby Invitation Tournament, in which 480 schoolchildren took part and more than 100 games were played.
As part of its sponsorship, National Foods provided shields and prizes and looked after the food and other requirements of Mbare Academy, which is made up of players from a number of Mbare schools.
National Foods head of marketing, Anthony Kinnaird, said National Foods were keen to support Seven-a-Side rugby and to see it grow in high density areas.
“Sevens rugby is set to become an Olympic sport in 2016, It is growing in popularity and could provide Zimbabwe with an opportunity to enter a team in the Olympics for the first time since 1980, when the women’s hockey team brought home gold,” he said.
