St Paul’s Musami eye Masomere scalp

ST Paul’s Musami will hope to maintain their fine form and extend their winning streak to four games in the ZIFA Eastern Region Division One Soccer League when they take on Triangle United at Gibbo tomorrow.

St Paul’s Musami marked their return to domestic football this season.

With Luke Masomere set to oversee his second game in charge of Triangle, St Paul’s Musami coach, Clifford Dzvairo, is relishing meeting his role model and expects nothing short of collecting maximum points in this encounter.

“These kind of fixtures (vs Triangle) are the fixtures why we are all in the league.

“We are here to compete against big teams and big coaches.

“It’s always a motivating factor on its own to play against a big team like Triangle, they played in the African Safari sometime back and they have a top coach in Luke Masomere, who I grew up reading about and I emulate him a lot.

“Winning against him and Triangle will be a major highlight of my career and I would like to achieve that,” said Dzvairo.

And 11 matches into the new season, the club finds itself sitting at position seven with 17 points and St Paul’s coach, Dzvairo, is hoping that his charges will extend their winning streak to four matches.

“We have been doing well and we are enjoying a purple patch at the moment having won our last three games and this is all we wanted going into this week’s tricky and tough encounter,” said Dzvairo.

The St Paul’s Musami coach has praised an 18-year-old midfielder, Tawananyasha Murwira, for stepping up and filling the big shoes of the Eastern Region, describing him as a gem in the making.

The 18-year-old midfielder has already shown some bright prospects having already scored two goals in as many games.

“I am quite happy for the young boy Tawanyasha Murwira, he’s been working very well since pre-season.

“We wanted to throw him into the team earlier but we thought it was good to wait a bit and find the perfect moment for him.

“He’s enjoying his game at the moment having scored in two consecutive games now having two goals and two assists in four outings at his age. It’s a good thing.

“I can recommend this young boy to any PSL team,” said Dzvairo.

The St Paul’s Musami coach said the team was not under any pressure to get promotion into the top flight at the end of the season but their objective for this season is to maintain their Division One status.
