Stabbing lover lands man behind bars

Mutero (27) was convicted on his own plea of guilt to assault charges when he appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Ms Olivia Mariga.
He told the court that he lost his temper after Chikombo turned down his request for reconciliation.

Ms Mariga slapped him with a nine-month jail term but set aside three months for five years. The court heard that on February 12 this year, he approached Chikombo and concluded that they should reconcile but she declined. Mutero could not contain the humiliation and he started beating up Chikombo before he took a knife and stabbed her several times.

After the assault, the court heard that Mutero fled. Chikombo sustained serious stab wounds and was admitted at Chitungwiza Central Hospital where she is receiving treatment. She filed a police report leading to his arrest. Ms Caroline Kugarakuripi prosecuted.
