Stakeholders call for investment, jobs and growth in Zimbabwean sport

ZIMBABWE’S sports sector must move beyond discussions and turn ideas into commercially viable projects that create jobs, attract investment and deliver sustainable opportunities for athletes.

This was the key message from the inaugural Kuzana Sport and Creative Economy Expo (KUZANA SCEEZ), where stakeholders were challenged to translate discussions into practical programmes, partnerships and measurable results.

They called for a coordinated national sports commercialisation agenda covering broadcasting and media rights, sponsorship, ticketing, merchandising, digital platforms, licensing and events, alongside stronger governance, financial management, accountability, integrity and administration across associations, federations, clubs and other sporting bodies.

The Zimbabwe National Wrestling and Boxing Control Board ZNWBCB, led by CEO Priscilla Kadungure made the call for the sector to “move from conversation to collaboration, from ideas to projects, and from projects to measurable impact”.

The Expo’s success should be measured by the emergence of more sustainable sporting organisations, improved opportunities and protection for athletes, stronger investment pipelines, and better facilities and programmes.
