SOME of the exhibitors at this year’s Zimbabwe International Trade Fair have started constructing their stands ahead of the annual trade showcase set for next month. The 55th edition of the trade fair runs from April 22 to 26 at the Zimbabwe Exhibition Centre in Bulawayo under the theme, “New Ideas to New Heights”.

A snap survey by Business Chronicle yesterday showed that some of the traditional exhibitors were already on the ground putting up their exhibition structures.

At the NetOne stand constructors said they were hoping to put final touches on the structure in the last week before the exhibition kicks off.

“We started building the exhibition stand a few weeks ago and we are hoping by the time the trade fair starts, we would have finished the construction work,” said an official who refused to be named referring further questions to NetOne.

At the Zimbabwe Republic Police and Zimbabwe Defence Forces’ exhibition stands contractors were also on site.
“By the end of this week or next week we are expecting to have finished constructing the stand.

“Officials from the City of Harare are expected on the 6th of April to view how we would have refurbished their stand,” said Misheck Mhlanga whose company was contracted by Harare City Council.

One of the major highlights of the ZITF is the Zimbabwe International Business Conference organised by the trade fair company in collaboration with the country’s think tank, the National Economic Consultative Forum.

Vice-President Joice Mujuru is expected to officially open the one-day international business conference on April 23 under the theme, “Technology and Innovation: A key pillar for ZimAsset’s successful implementation”.

A few weeks ago, ZITF Company chairman Bekithemba Nkomo confirmed during a Press conference that more than 80 percent of the available exhibition space had so far been booked for ZITF with 21 foreign nations having expressed interest.

Last week, the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce encouraged its members to participate at the forthcoming trade fair as it provides a platform for growth and clinching of deals.

The trade fair is anchored on creating marketing, networking and linkage platforms with existing and potential investors and in this light the first three days of the exhibition have been exclusively set aside as traders’ days.
