Star FM held its 10th anniversary celebrations and honoured its long serving staff.
The celebrations were held at a colourful event at the Zimpapers Radio House gardens in Harare on June 25.
Employees received hampers as a show of appreciation.
Zimpapers board chairman Mr Tommy Sithole, board member Mr Tatenda Chiweshe, chief executive Mr Pikirayi Deketete and chief finance officer Mr Farai Matanhire, graced the event.
Thirty employees, including general manager Comfort Mbofana, human resources manager Mercy Hwema, head of sports and programming Steve Vickers, were awarded 10-year service certificates.
Three others received recognition for their five-year service. Of the 30 that were recognised for the longest service, 23 joined Zimpapers at the inception of Star FM while seven were absorbed from other units within the group.
Seven of the longest serving employees are managers. The female to male ratio was 40 to 60 percent.
In his address, Mr Sithole reaffirmed the board and senior management’s commitment to improve the conditions of service and welfare of employees.
He said the executive was working tirelessly to ensure a motivated workforce that contributes towards realisation of shareholder, organisational and individual goals.
Mr Sithole emphasised the need to strengthen convergence within Zimpapers, especially the broadcasting unit comprising radio and television.
In his speech, the CEO recollected Star FM’s journey and commended staff for their work over the years that has resulted in the station being a formidable brand on the market.
