The road shows began yesterday at the Large City Hall Car Park and another will be held today at the same venue.
DJs Munya, Tich Mataz, Phathisani, Ndumiso, Grace and Noma yesterday met fans at the venue where mostly school children had gathered.
In an interview, Star FM sales and marketing manager Mr Piwayi Dzuda, said the road shows were the grand finale to the breakfast meeting that was held in the city on Wednesday.
He said the response from the Bulawayo business community was overwhelming. The breakfast meeting, organised in conjunction with Marketers Association of Zimbabwe, was aimed at giving Bulawayo businesses a lifeline to revive their operations.
“The meetings were over subscribed as we had 125 top level managers at the meetings. These road shows are just a way of meeting listeners,” said Mr Dzuda.
He said the reason Star FM was in Bulawayo was to find out the views of the listeners.
“It is encouraging that people do listen to Star Fm. We are here to find out what the market wants in terms of programming,” said Mr Dzuda.
He said as a way of encouraging conservation of water in the city, Star FM would partner with Bulawayo City Council to raise awareness.
“We are going to have a programme called Masiyephambili Drive, which would highlight health and social issues in Bulawayo. Part of the programme would be to encourage the Blue Monday Campaign by the city council.
“The thrust is to give people tips on how to conserve water,” said Mr Dzuda.
He said the water awareness campaign would start on Monday. The Masiyephambili Drive is a segment that will cater for Bulawayo businesses to advertise themselves to customers.
The programme will be launched in a fortnight.
Last month the city council set aside the first Monday of each month as Blue Monday where residents are encouraged to wear sky blue clothing and participate in fundraising for the completion of the duplication of the Insiza Dam pipeline.
He said an after party would be held at a local nightclub where revellers would have the chance to meet radio personalities.
Star FM hit airwaves on 25 June at midday. The 24-hour radio station broadcasts on 89.7 in Harare and 93.1 Megahertz in Bulawayo and is the first commercial radio station to operate in the country since independence.
