Starbill turn to Elisha Mukusha

IN a desperate move to try and survive relegation, Starbill have appointed Elisha Mukusha as their new coach to replace Patson Muzavazi.
Mukusha took over from Muzavazi, who was fired after their loss to DC Academy, at Rufaro two weeks ago.
The club have also sacked the assistant coach, Prince Kadewere, and goalkeeper’s coach Zozo Mwanasanga.
Muzavazi had been in charge of the team since he took over from Lloyd Chitembwe in August but failed to deliver the expected results and the team has dropped into the bottom half on the log table. However, the decision to relieve the three coaches of their duties has left the club in a quandary as Kadewere was said to be holding on to the players’ licences demanding payment of his dues.

Starbill secretary-general Kudakwashe Mugari confirmed the appointment of Mukusha, who was in charge of Saturday’s game when they dimissed Bindura 1-0.
Mugari, however, said they have been using a letter from the Zifa Northern Region for their games since the former assistant coach went away with the licenes.

“We have to play with a letter from Zifa, the (assistant) coach left with the licences.
“The coach was fired while in possession of the licences and maybe his advisors told him to hold on to the licences to get his money. We have been playing without the licences. We are going to have new licences from Zifa and we are going to pay any amount for the licences and he will keep the old licences.

“It’s better for him to keep them because he has been holding us to ransom. If he is owed by the club there are so many proper channels to follow to get his money.
“He wants us to pay him, someone who is holding us at ransom, the players and the whole team. We are not going to do that. I hope those licences will turn into food and money.

“I think he is being ill advised. He is just demanding to be paid up to December but he was on probation. We gave them five games and they failed to deliver then they were fired. The other people got their monies. He is damaging his career.

“We had not paid him for September, if he brings the licences, we will pay him, some of his colleagues got their money but with him it’s different because he has our property,” said Mugari. Kadewere denied the allegations. “I just got a message, I didn’t get a dismissal letter,” he said.
