“We have successfully conducted the provincial competitions and we are happy with the level of competition this year as we registered more participants compared to the 2012 season,” said Mpariwa.
Successful contestants will be taken to boot camp at Sanganayi Creek at the Mazvikadei Dam where they will be given vocal and performance lessons from music experts as well as various team building lessons.
The show has grown after its resumption last year and those who won last year walked away with various prizes.
Bryan Kadengu won in the music category and walked away with a Honda Fit, all-expenses paid trips to the United States, South Africa, Germany and Victoria Falls, Samsung 32-inch LCD TV, recording contract with Tuku Music, a residential stand and a BlackBerry handset. Other winners were Amanda Manyowa of Harare and Xolani Ndhlovu of Bulawayo, who came second and third respectively.
Manyowa received a performance trip to South Africa, a recording contract with Tuku Music, singing mentorship with Hugh Masekela, Judith Sephuma and Louis Mhlanga in South Africa, an iPad, an android handset, paid-up gym membership among others.
Ndhlovu received a recording contract with Tuku Music, a laptop and an android phone.
In the poetry category, Promise Madavanhu from Masvingo came first with Nomore Dovi as the runner-up.
The dancing category saw Harare-based Magesh pipping Hard Mashona to clinch the top spot. Takudzwa Mashonganyika took the Special Talent category.
For his poetic exploits, Promise Madavanhu won a residential stand, laptop, android phone among other prizes.
Runner-up Nomore Dovi got an android phone, headphone set and Oceane perfume hamper.
Macgesh Tornadoes, the dancing champions, collected a laptop, laptop bag, two android phones and residential stand. Hard Mashona received an android phone and Oceane perfume hamper.
Meanwhile, winners of the 2012 season are slated to be part of the opening act at this year’s Harare International Festival of the Arts which roars into life next week. – The Herald.
