ZIM Afro T10 league sponsors, T Ten Global Sports have dismissed the claims that the recently ended tournament is under investigation by the ICC Anti- Corruption Unit for alleged match fixing.
News broke out that a number of players and officials are being investigated for alleged match fixing during a match between Durban Wolves and Harare Bolts.
However, the tournament sponsors have come out to say the reports are unfounded and malicious, only based on speculations.
“There is no known formal investigation in progress. The newspaper cast aspersions without any proof and based the story merely on assumptions and speculation,” said a spokesperson from T Ten Global Sport.
Both T Ten Global Sports and Zimbabwe Cricket expressed regret over the dissemination of unverified information, stating that such content not only damages the reputation of the tournament but also undermines professional journalism.
T Ten Global Sports also clarified that it outsources all anti-corruption monitoring to the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit and works closely with them to maintain the highest standards of integrity and ensure the game remains clean.
The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to the integrity of the Zim Afro T10.
“The league ensures that all necessary measures are in place to protect the tournament’s integrity and emphasizes a zero-tolerance policy against any wrongdoing,” read the statement.
ZC, yesterday, also said they are unaware of any ongoing investigation.
“We have not received anything from ICC. No communication has come to us, we haven’t received anything official. We cannot comment on social media posts,” said ZC Managing Director Givemore Makoni.
The news of the match fixing allegations was brought to light by Pakistani journalist, Saleem Khaliq on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
