Step out and claim your abundance

“And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it.

Then they said one to another, we do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now, therefore, come, that we may go and tell the king’s household.” — 2 Kings 7:8-9

Last week, we saw abundance arrive right at the gate.

Overnight, a desperate famine was transformed into a feast, fulfilling the word of the Lord.

However, child of God, it is one thing for abundance to arrive at the gate but quite another to possess what is standing there.

God provided the spoils, but people still had to step out and take hold of them.

Today, God is moving you from expectation to possession.

The men with leprosy dared to take action, asking, “Why should we sit here until we die?”

The Bible tells us there were four men with leprosy sitting outside the city gate — rejected, despised outcasts.

Humanly speaking, they had no right to abundance and were not even permitted inside the city walls.

Yet they possessed an insight the rest of the city lacked.

While the people of Samaria were praying and waiting inside, these men asked why they should resign to fate until they perished.

So many of us remain stuck at the gates of our own lives.

We sit paralysed by fear, past disappointments and the negative words of others.

We are caged not by physical chains, but by our own refusal to move.

God had already broken the siege.

As recorded in verse 6, the Lord caused the Syrian army to hear the sound of approaching chariots, prompting them to flee in terror.

They abandoned everything: gold, silver, food and clothing.

Although the enemy had already retreated, the people of Samaria continued to live as though they were still under siege.

How many of us are still living as prisoners to a siege that God has already lifted?

The door stands open, yet you remain seated. The men with leprosy moved. Because they took that step, they ate, drank and collected silver and gold. Their action triggered their breakthrough.

God is telling you today to move.

There is no more room for passive waiting; your gate is open and your abundance is waiting, but you must arise and take possession of it.

Psalm 124:7 says, “Our soul has escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken and we are escaped.”

The snare is broken! You are not trying to escape, you have escaped. But a bird whose cage is open must fly! Arise and fly!
