After nearly two years away from the limelight, musician Stewie La Savage is making a comeback with a tribute to legendary American singer and civil rights activist Nina Simone.

Set for release on Monday, the single titled Nina marks Stewie’s official return to the studio and the stage. The Afro-house track, produced by MellowMuZiQ and Rander The Samaita at Solid Sounds Afro House, celebrates the timeless influence of Simone, whose genre-blending sound and activism continue to inspire generations.
“The song celebrates Nina Simone, who was more than just a musician; she was a movement. She used her voice to place Black people on the right platforms and became a symbol of change. In celebrating Black History Month, I honour her legacy and her courage,” Stewie La Savage said.

The Nina release follows his last solo project, Bluebird, commissioned by Youth for Innovation Trust. Stewie said the time away allowed him to reconnect with himself, refine his sound, and rediscover his artistic purpose.

Looking ahead, he plans to drop a four-track EP early next year, continuing his journey of storytelling through culturally rooted and socially conscious music.
“Through God’s grace, I’m focused on creating art that reflects who we are as Zimbabweans. I want young people to find pride and purpose in their culture through music,” he added.

During his creative hiatus, Stewie La Savage remained active in collaborations, featuring on Shadow of He by Afro Wav, Luna by South African producer Ma-B, and Happier by Italian producer Vincent Ache. – Follow on X: @mthabisi_mthire
