STINGRAYS Swimming Academy have clinched the Bulawayo Amateur Swimming Association Junior Championship at the short course gala held at the weekend.
Stingrays amassed a total of 177 points in the combined team scores to lift the title for the third time in a row.
In the girls’ category, Stingrays emerged tops with 69 points followed by Penguins, who managed to amass 46 points, while School of Swimming was one point behind to finish third. Crusaders were fourth with 38 points.
In the boys’ section, Stingrays raked 108 points, with School of Swimming coming second with 44 points and Penguins taking third place with 37 points.
The combined team scores saw School of Swimming come second with 89 points, Penguins third with 83 and Crusaders finishing with 54 points.
Stingrays were powered to the championships by the strong performances of Louisa Ndlovu (9), Zanenkosi Ndlovu (9), Nkonzo Mkwananzi (9), Mbali Jared (11), Siqokoqela Mphoko (11), Senamile Mphoko (12), Sibusiso Fayayo (12) and Kwandokuhle Nkomazana (12).
Louisa emerged victorious in her age group clinching 22 points after winning the butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle.
