A MAN has been arrested for transporting the carcass of a stolen cow, which he loaded into a Honda Fit.
He was arrested in Bulawayo’s Nkulumane suburb.
Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, said police received information last week that a Honda Fit had entered a yard in Nkulumane carrying goods suspected to be stolen.
“Police reacted to the tip-off and, upon arrival, observed a white Honda Fit outside the yard.
“When the driver noticed the police vehicle, the Honda Fit sped off.
“Police pursued the vehicle and arrested the accused person,” she said.
After the arrest, officers returned to the suspect’s residence, where they allegedly found a black plastic bag near the front door containing two black cattle heads and a carcass.
Police also established during preliminary investigations that the registration number displayed on the Honda Fit allegedly belonged to a different vehicle, a white Mazda Atenza.
Inspector Msebele commended members of the public for providing timely information that led to the arrest.
“We would like to appreciate members of the public for being vigilant and continuously working closely with the police by reporting suspicious activities, which is yielding results,” she said.
