IT is going to be a battle of Premiership debutants at Phelandaba Stadium tomorrow when Bulawayo City FC locks horns with another newly promoted outfit Border Strikers FC in match to fundraise for the forthcoming Paralympic Games to be held here next month.
Border Strikers are under the tutelage of Warriors’ assistant coach and former ZPC Kariba gaffer, Saul Chaminuka while Philani “Beefy” Ncube is the Bulawayo City coach.
Matabeleland South is hosting the games which are scheduled for March 31 to April 4 after being moved from the initial dates of April 5 to 9.
The games’ Local Organising Committee general manager, Abinel Musewa confirmed staging of the match as a fundraising drive.
“It’s a fundraising match just like the previous ones which pitted Highlanders and the other teams. This time it’s Border Strikers and Bulawayo City. These are newly promoted Premiership teams. Border Strikers have promised to bring their Reserve side which will curtain raise for the main match against ZRP Gwanda at 11AM. The big match will be there at 3PM,” said Musewa.
He appealed to the community of Gwanda to support the initiative so that they raise high the flag of the “Rainbow Province” as Matabeleland South is known.
