A STUDENT teacher at Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Polytechnic in Gwanda Town has been fined $50 for sending an abusive text message to her lover’s wife.

Zandisiwe Ncube, 32, of Phakama suburb, was convicted on her own plea of guilty by magistrate Arafat Kozanai.

She was fined $50 or 30 days imprisonment in default of payment.

Ncube told the court that she sent the abusive text messages to Sibongile Murima, who is a security guard at the same college because Murima was the first to send her an offensive mobile message.

“The complainant was the first to send me abusive text messages but it’s unfortunate because I no longer have them on my phone.

“I deleted them all,” said Ncube.

Representing the State, Moses Gondongwe said Ncube once had a love affair with Murima’s husband.

Murima later discovered the affair.

He said on April 6 this year at around 5.43PM, Ncube sent an abusive message through short message service (SMS) to the complainant’s mobile phone which described the woman’s private parts as smelly. Gondogwe said the other part of the offensive message read, “Shemu wawuzala njengegundwane usithi yindlela yokubamba indoda kwaaaaaa uyisiyelele (Shame on you. You were breeding like a mouse foolishly believing that this would keep your husband happy, shame on, you are insane).”

The offended Murima reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of Ncube.
