Sulu dedicates weekend to Harare fans

After a long time of balancing his Harare shows with outside assignments, Suluman Chimbetu will this weekend stage all his shows in the capital. The musician will tonight perform at Dandaro Inn and Mushandirapamwe Hotel in Highfield tomorrow before concluding the weekend with a family show at Ice ‘n’ Fire Pamuzinda on Sunday.

For a couple of months, Sulu – as the musician is popularly known – only staged one or two shows per week in the capital as he went on an outreach campaign that saw him visiting places like Mutare, Beitbridge, Victoria Falls, Gweru, Bulawayo and Norton among others.

Sulu has dedicated this week’s programme to Harare to ensure fans have many venue options over one weekend.

At Dandaro Inn he will share the stage with dancehall star Killer T and Hebert Majeke while the Mushandirapamwe gig will feature a surprise act.

Peter Moyo and King Shaddy will spice up the family show at Pamuzinda.

Sulu’s publicist Joe “Local” Nyamungoma challenged their Harare fans to attend all the shows and have a weekend of dendera music.

“We know our loyal fans can attend all the shows. In fact, we are challenging those who are in love with dendera music to be with us the whole weekend. Every show is packaged differently and missing one show means missing a lot,” said Nyamungoma.

“We are calling it ‘dendera rotenderera muHarare’ weekend and those who love our music should ‘fly’ with us as we go to the three venues.”

However, Nyamungoma said the arrangement mainly caters for fans that want to enjoy shows in their neighbourhood.

“For those that cannot afford the three-day party, the venues were strategically chosen to cater for fans from various suburbs.

“The Dandaro Inn show is likely to attract fans from suburbs surrounding the city centre. It is also a good venue for upmarket fans.

“At Mushandirapamwe Hotel we will be going for our fans in Highfield and surrounding areas as well as all southern suburbs while at Pamuzinda we are looking at our fans from the western suburbs.

“Our show at Pamuzinda can also be taken as a common ground since it will be a family event,” he said.
