The entertainment-starved town of Beitbridge will come alive again tomorrow night as renowned Dendera artiste Suluman Chimbetu and the Orchestra Dendera Kings take their Gunship to Eland House.
Sulu, as the Dendera ace is affectionately known by his legion of fans, will be in the border town courtesy of Eland Promotions.
He will have a hard time satisfying the fans who keep on clamouring for more whenever he performs in the border town.
Now also known as ‘‘Chibaba Chenyuchi’’, the musician will be performing in the town after a very long time.
Show organiser, Larry Diamond said yesterday that the stage was now set for the show.
He said it will be the first time for the Batai Munhu hit-maker to perform at the venue following the opening of Eland House in November last year.
The joint has a night club, VIP lounge and a state of the art restaurant and a carrying capacity of around 2 500 people.
“We have lined up a lot of activities and we are calling on revellers to attend in their numbers. There will be a lot of prizes including 50 T-shirts and free beer for the first 50 revellers to arrive at the venue.
“Further, we will also be giving out 30 T-shirts to the best dancers on the day,” said Diamond.
He said there will be tight security manned by a private company and the police to cater for both the revellers and their vehicles.
Diamond added that the artiste will perform from Saturday 8pm until the next morning.
“We have done everything necessary and we are very hopeful that the show will be a great success.
“There will be a generator on standby in the event of power black outs.
“The restaurant will be open throughout the show and we have also reduced prices of beer and other beverages for the convenience of our loyal clients,” he said.
He said Sungura ace Alick Macheso and Orchestra Mberikwazvo will also perform at the same venue on Valentine’s Day.
Sulu’s publicist Joel Nyamugona said the fans should brace themselves for a top of the shelf performance.
“The Gunship has never landed in Beitbridge and we want to assure our legion of fans that they will get value for their money.
“We haven’t performed in Beitbridge for a very long time because of some shoddy deals we have been getting from some promoters in that town.
“So far we are impressed with Eland Promotions’ conduct,” said Nyamugona.
