A MAN from Kumbudzi in Esigodini allegedly forced a 15-year-old girl to strip and expose her private parts for him after buying her biscuits.

Bongani Sibanda (31) appeared before Esigodini magistrate Mr Lungile Moyo facing a charge of performing an indecent act with a minor. He was remanded in custody for trial at the Gwanda Regional Court.

The court heard that on 5 May 2016, at Zidlabusuku Village, under Chief Mathe, Kumbudzi, Sibanda unlawfully performed an indecent act with a young person by forcing her to lie down and remove her panties. Prosecuting Miss Martha Gwese told the court that on that day at about 6pm, the girl was at a local shop with her sister and brother where they wanted to collect maize using a scotch cart.

“Sibanda approached the girl who was sitting in the scotch cart with her sister and told her he wanted to buy her some sweets, the girl followed. Sibanda went to one of the shops and he bought her biscuits and instructed her to follow him into a bushy area,” said the prosecutor.

The court heard that Sibanda ordered the girl to lie down facing upwards then he removed the girl’s panties. After that Sibanda stood up and told her to wear her panties. The girl later on reported the matter leading to Sibanda’s arrest.
