NEW: Delta Corporation dismisses social media hoax

Online Reporter

Beverages manufacturer, Delta Corporation Limited has dismissed as a hoax, a purported 80th anniversary message that is circulating on social media platforms.

Companies are increasing becoming targets of cybercrime activities, such as phishing scams.

Said Delta Corporation in a statement on Wednesday:

“We have been alerted to a phishing scam targeting consumers via a fake website masquerading as Delta Corporation Limited.

“The scam falsely claims to be a competition in celebration of Delta’s 80th anniversary and promises that one lucky person will win US$200.”

The company has urged customers not to click on the link.

Government is working on legislation to curb the growing problem of cybercrimes.

Earlier in September, Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services Minister, Dr Jenfan Muswere, said the Cyber Security and Data Protection Bill had gone through Parliament and was awaiting the assent of the President.
