SUNGURA musician Tendai Ngwazi was taken to the Harare Civil Court by his wife Estella Chinyama, who is seeking a protection order over allegations of physical, verbal and emotional abuse.
Chinyama accused Ngwazi of physically and verbally abusing her, destroying household property and visiting her workplace allegedly with the intention of committing violence.
During the proceedings, Chinyama referred to Ngwazi as her husband, but the musician expressed surprise at the description, saying the two had since separated.
Ngwazi, however, said he was happy that Chinyama still regarded him as her husband.
“I am shocked that she referred to me as her husband. I am happy that she still considers me her husband because she had broken up with me,” he said.
The matter was heard before Magistrate Ashton Dube, who granted the protection order by consent.
Under the order, Ngwazi was directed to desist from verbally, physically and emotionally abusing Chinyama.
He was also ordered to stop visiting her workplace for the purposes of committing violence and to desist from breaking their household property.
The order was granted after both parties consented to its terms.
