NO joy has come to CAPS United so far.
It has been a journey filled with sorrow in their Castle Lager Premiership campaign.
Their start is one that puts a dent in the team’s history, as they are counted among the best in the league and often expected to be title contenders. The Green Machine make an away date to meet Highlanders at Barbourfields Stadium this Sunday and it is expected to be a big drawcard.
CAPS United, despite their disappointing start, command respect and followers among football fans in the City of Kings. They are coming to their second home. On their shoulders is the task to overturn the “windy” tide that threatens to wreck their big ship.
It will be one of a Herculean job for the Lloyd Chitembwe-coached side.
The Green Machine fans in Bulawayo equally want a positive result. They are hungry for a win.
On the other side, the hosts Bosso have lost two matches and a draw in their last three matches. They have shown intent that this season they mean business and look a team to be counted in the championship equation.
The clash with the Green Machine promises fireworks. For the visitors, it has to be a blissful Sunday too.
Coach Kelvin Kaindu has hinted before that his charges have to maximise on home games.
Will that be possible against one of their biggest clubs in the country?
That’s a question whose response will come at full time on the day.
In last season’s campaign in the duel, it was a one all draw at Barbourfields in November.
By then Bosso had gone six games without a win, a sharp contrast to a 19-game unbeaten run in the first-half of the season that made them contenders for the championship.
At the time Highlanders was coached by Baltemar Brito who said his team’s performance against CAPS United was below par.
Chitembwe was there and still is. So, the onus is on how he will pull a trick on Kaindu.
CAPS United were the first to score through Rodwell Chinyengetere in the 14th minute.
Mason Mushore came to the rescue of the home side in the 58th minute.
As both teams prepare for the epic battle, what counts on the day would be how coaches will plan their attacks.
