Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko says the African continent still has challenges in capacity development, so Governments in the region must give maximum support to the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) to continue with that mandate. He made the remarks when he officially opened the ACBF’s 25th anniversary celebrations that are being held alongside the Capacity Development Forum in Harare yesterday.
VP Mphoko said ACBF played a major role in ensuring that the continent meets Agenda 2030 and 2063 through its capacity development initiatives that have seen a number of African countries benefiting.
He said the ACBF was one of the premier capacity building organisations in Africa dedicated to building and strengthening human, institutional and societal capacities.
“In this regard, I call upon African governments, development partners and other stakeholders to support the ACBF’s efforts in getting the number of experts, engineers, scientists and researchers needed to ensure a successful implementation of our Agenda 2063,” said VP Mphoko.
He said Zimbabwe was fully supportive of the ACBF as evidenced by political and economic support it has received from the Government including hosting the institution’s headquarters in Harare.
VP Mphoko said the institution helped a number of countries in the continent towards achieving socio-economic development including Zimbabwe since its inception in 1991.
