A 36-Year-Old Chitungwiza man, who was arrested on charges of malicious damage to property, allegedly assaulted a policeman in a bid to escape. Tangisai Hwema of 997 St Mary’s, Chitungwiza was arrested for malicious damage to property (case number RRB2485955) and on July 26 at around 10am he was brought to the charge office at St Mary’s Police Station.
The court heard that this was the time Constable Arnold Ngarakana (37) was in the charge office on duty.
Cst Ngarakana ordered Hwema to remove his jacket and supply his particulars for detention, but he refused.
Hwema allegedly stood up from where he was asked to sit and started walking away prompting Cst Ngarakana to react.

Upon being apprehended, Hwema allegedly turned violent, head-butting Cst Ngarakana on the mouth during the melee.
Hwema also punched the officer in the face twice.
This prompted Constables Vhera and Shirichena to come to Cst Ngarakana’s rescue and managed to arrest Hwema.
Cst Ngarakana sustained a cut on the lower lip.
Appearing before Chitungwiza magistrate Ms Tafadzwa Miti, Hwema denied charges of assaulting a police officer.
