A SUSPECTED fraudster, Tawanda Denford Bondamakara, who allegedly duped his mother-in-law of a car has been granted US$100 bail.
Bondamakara (40), who is represented by lawyer Ms Devoted Nyagano, initially appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Dennis Mangosi charged with theft of trust property on Friday.
Bondamakara, who already has three other pending fraud cases, was advised to return to court on September 25 for routine remand.
Prosecutor Mr Thomas Chanakira alleged that sometime in March this year, the complainant Mrs Rebecca Kashaya, gave Bondamakara a silver Volvo XC60 to obtain fair value fair the car.
She allowed him to move around with the car without giving him the registration book or any other documentation relating to the vehicle.
After two weeks, Bondamakara confirmed that he had a found a buyer who wanted to pay US$10 000.
Mrs Kashaya advised him to return the vehicle and to bring the buyer to her, but he became evasive.
She then filed a report with the police, which led to his arrest on August 21. Last month, Bondamakara appeared in court for allegedly defrauding two home-seekers about US$190 000 on separate occasions after luring them to pay for three stands and five hectares of land.
The complainants are Mrs Catherine Masaka, a pensioner and Mrs Patricia Imbeah Kissi.
Bondamakara has two more fraud charges involving vehicles, whose complainants are Blessing Chiroodza and Fadwick Thomas.
He is out on bail for all the cases.
