Suspected goat thief beaten to death

POLICE have arrested six suspects in Madlambuzi, Plumtree on allegations of killing a 54-year-old man after accusing him of stealing a goat.

The goat belonged to one of the suspects, Qiniso Ncube (38).

Other suspects arrested are Honest Sola, Justin Nkomo (60), Malcom Sichelo Nube (24), Mayibongwe Nyathi (27), Lyton Ncube (28) and Mulu Nyathi (20) in connection with the murder case which occurred on August 19 at Ndolwane Village in Madlambuzi.

The victim, Soza Dube, was found dead in a bedroom hut five days after the assault.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.

“The suspects took turns to assault the victim Soza Dube aged 54 with sjamboks all over the body after accusing him of stealing a goat belonging to Qiniso Ncube. The victim was found dead in a bedroom hut on August 24, 2024,” he said.

In another incident, police in Mberengwa are appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of Clear Msipa who is wanted in connection with a murder case which occurred at Shauro Business Centre on August 26.

The suspect stabbed the victim, Knowledge Moyo (34), with a knife after accusing him of having an affair with his wife.

Meanwhile, another suspect, Jacob Sigudu, is wanted in connection with a murder case which occurred at Midwaters 20 Mine, Zaka on August 26, where Peterson Machinjike (41) died after being stabbed with a knife on the leg following a dispute over gold ore.
