Suspended sentence for urinating inside grave

Harare Bureau
A 67-year-old woman who urinated inside one of the graves of six family members who were killed in accident near Mvuma last month has been sentenced to a suspended six months for public indecent. Irene Zimuto appeared before a Mvuma magistrate last week and was sentenced to six months in prison which were wholly suspended for five years.

The family members died when a Nissan truck they were travelling in side-swiped with an Audi sedan at Mavise turn-off on the Harare-Masvingo Highway near Mvuma town. Chirumhanzu Rural District Council employee Charles Nyika died on the spot, while his wife, three children and a grandchild died upon admission to Mvuma Hospital.

The Audi vehicle, which was Harare-bound, had two people believed to be husband and wife, and the two sustained minor injuries.

Nyika is alleged to have encroached into the other lane while attempting to turn right in front of the oncoming vehicle, resulting in a sideswipe and his vehicle veering off the road before overturning.

The woman is said to have urinated in full view of mourners during the burial of six family members in Mvuma.

Zimuto was arrested and taken to court.
