Chicken Inn FC 0-1 Sheasham FC
IT never really seemed to work out for the Gamecocks in front of goal in their

match at Luveve Stadium in Bulawayo yesterday.
For the greater part of the game, Chicken Inn had the ball at their feet only to be let down, either by poor decision making or in some instances, just poor finishing. This was Chicken Inn’s first defeat at home since 3 September last year and the performance was dismal. The Gamecocks were a month away from making it a complete year without a defeat at Luveve Stadium before the visitors proved party spoilers.
In the absence of Brian Muza, Donovan Bernard, Clive Augusto and Tafadzwa Kutinyu, the duo of Malvin Hwata and Brighton Ncube were expected to rise to the occasion. Just as evidence of how the football gods had a frown upon the Gamecocks, their striker Hwata had his penalty saved with six minutes left to play. Substitute Genius Mutungamiri was fouled inside the box and referee Allan Bhasvi pointed to the spot. Hwata took matters into his own hands but his effort was saved by man of the match
Elton Sibanda in goal for Sheasham.
Hwata’s miss ensured the visitors walked away with three points that came through the boot of Liberty Masveure after 32 minutes to hand coach Lizwe Sweswe his second win on the trot after beating FC Platinum 2-1 last week and drawing with Black Rhinos 0-0 and ZPC Kariba 0-0 for a great start by the coach at a club that appeared Central Region Division One bound a month ago.
Masveure dribbled his way into the Gamecocks box before coolly slotting home the lead and ultimate winner. From that point, Chicken Inn enjoyed the lion’s share of possession but they could not turn the dominance into goals. Sheasham do deserve the victory as they were tactically sound on the day. Sweswe’s charges were impressive on the high press and maintained good defensive shape after they got their goal. Chicken Inn never got their act together. A fact Chicken Inn coach Prince Matore made mention of in the after match Press conference.
“We were sleeping in our decision making and defending. Our execution was poor. We were hurrying some of our efforts. What we needed to do was to keep the ball more and be patient,” said Matore.
Sweswe said his players are giving maximum effort hence there has been an improvement in form.
“The boys are working hard and the results are coming. What matters most is to have these players gaining back their confidence which is what is happening,” said Sweswe.
