“I am so excited with how people are appreciating the talent in me. The video was inspired by social settings and how I grew up.“ Christian Hip-hop “People’s Choice” award winner Tinashe Wutete, affectionately known as T-Nash, has released a new scorching video entitled “Simuka Utambe” which is on his upcoming album. The video, which was shot by Chris Shoca and Aaron Skizek of Black Phantom Films at a warehouse in Willowvale, has gone viral on social media.

“Simuka Utambe” is a dance song, which is more about appreciating God for everything He has done for us and it has been aired on national television with “Coke On The Beat” adopting it on their slot.

In an interview, T-Nash said he was happy with how the video is being appreciated by locals as it is a big start in his career.

“Doing vocals is one thing while doing a video is another. You deserve to be happy if both are accepted at the same time and it is a great honour to have such reception.

“I am so excited with how people are appreciating the talent in me. The video was inspired by social settings and how I grew up.

“The church has played a pivotal role in shaping the lifestyles of many,” he said.

T-Nash said he started doing music in 2003 while at primary school playing marimba and mbira.

“I was part of the school choir during my time at primary school. I did my first recording in 2008.

“I continued doing secular music without my parents’ approval because I come from a Christian background and they didn’t want me to do such a genre.

“I later changed the genre and in 2013 I released my first album and I won my first award,” he said.

He said he is inspired by gospel musicians such as Mudiwa Mtandwa and minister Mahendere.

“To me, gospel music is a calling. I look up to my mother who is also a gospel musician. I adore some of the good singers like Mudiwa and minister Mahendere because of their composure in music.

“My aim is to push my music internationally and later this year I will be releasing my second album,” he said.

He encouraged the corporate world to support local talent.

“Charity begins at home. We have a lot of talent in Zimbabwe and we urge all corporates to come together and assist the industry because to some that is a source of livelihood,” he added.
