Zimbabwe Table Tennis Union (ZTTU) president Noah Ferenando has been retained as the African Union Sports Council Region Five table tennis vice president.

He was re-elected to the post unopposed and will be in charge of the region’s policy formulation, implementation and strategic management portfolio.

Ferenando told The Sunday Mail Online that he hopes to continue playing his part in the transformation of the sport in the region.

“I am quite excited that all the countries in our region nominated me to fill in the post of vice president of African Union Sports Council Region Five Table Tennis Confederation in charge of policy formulation, implementation and strategic management.

“It is a huge post that seeks to transform the sport in our region, and we have a mammoth task ahead. However, I am equal to the task,” he said.

“Most importantly, we need to transform the game at home first, after which we can start making an impact in the region.

“We must set an example that would be used as a yardstick by other member countries. This post is a plus for us as a federation, and we hope to fully embrace it and use it for the benefit of our athletes and all stakeholders involved in table tennis.”
