THE Zimbabwe International Taekwondo squad will tomorrow leave the country for the South Africa National Taekwondo Championship Tournament to be held at Pinnacle College in Johannesburg on Saturday.

Zimbabwe has managed to name a strong 24-member squad which is confident of bringing back medals.

The team has been under the tutelage of fifth-dan instructor Evan Brown at Twin Rivers Primary School in Avondale for the past month.

The team will be part of over 160 athletes from Mozambique and South Africa who will be battling it out for medals.

Brown said they are happy as Zimbabwe Taekwondo Academy to have named a strong 24-member team that will do duty in South Africa, and they are looking forward to bringing home some gold medals.

“We have selected a strong team for the South Africa National Taekwondo Championship Tournament. We have been training hard for the past month, and I am happy that everyone is raring to go.

“We will leave the country on Friday, and we are looking forward to go and represent the country well. We have been working hard at training, and we are expecting to do well at the tournament,” said Brown.

Brown is happy that they managed to get support from parents, and some will travel with the team.

“There is so much excitement, and we are grateful to all the parents who have come on board to support the children in achieving their dream,” added Brown.
