Tafiremutsa seeks to stay at DeMbare

Dynamos goalkeeper Prince Tafiremutsa is looking forward to extending his contract with the club as they put together a squad for the CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

Tafiremutsa penned a two-year deal with the Glamour Boys last year and it comes to an end on December 31.

He gave a good account of himself after he was given the chance to guard goal for DeMbare after Taimon Mvula fell out of favour with the coaches midway in the just-ended season.

Zimpapers Sports understands that Mvula is on his way out of Dynamos.

Tafiremutsa was instrumental in the club’s run to their Chibuku Super Cup glory, which became their first major trophy since 2014.

Dynamos have been always linked with Chicken Inn goalkeeper Donovan Bernard. However, the club believes if they fail to secure the services of Bernard they will go for Manica Diamonds shot stopper Tedious Baye.

Baye, whose contract with Manica Diamonds is running out end of December, is considered a major target for DeMbare in case Bernard is not available.

“Of course after finishing the season strongly we will be looking forward to continue with that trajectory in the next season.

“With my contract running out, I am just waiting for the club to bring us on the negotiating table and see what they will bring out. I am confident that we will have an agreement,” said Tafiremutsa.

Dynamos vice chairman Vincent Chawonza believes the club is looking to offer three-year contracts to a number of players while reviewing salaries of their players upwards.

Chawonza is the club’s head of human capital management.

“We are happy with the team we have right now. They have shown that they can play and challenge all the big teams but African football, as you know, is not easy as the level is quite high.

“So we are going to beef up the team in certain areas that the coach has recommended. The current squad we are going to keep it as intact as we can and have just a few additions.

“We have already started negotiating with our players who have their contracts expiring at the end of the year.

“We want to increase their salaries and give them three-year contracts in as well such that they are not taken by other clubs but remember Dynamos is the place to be at the moment for any player, we are in the African Safari, maybe play in the African Football League soon.

“We have a good squad, a good sponsorship and Dynamos is a place to be for every player who wants to market themselves. So we are very attractive to players and we will keep the ones we have.”
