NEW Pacific Breeze Zifa Southern Soccer League leaders Talen Vision’s championship bid will get closer scrutiny when they face Bulawayo Warriors at Chiefs Village this afternoon.
The Filabusi side were 1-0 victors over former log leaders Hwange at the Colliery Stadium last week. It was a key win as it set Hwange three points behind in the race with a handful of games to go.
Hwange had dominated the championship since the beginning of the season with morale said to be low with the team alleged to have travelled on public transport to a fixture recently. Against a highly motivated Talen Vision side last weekend, Hwange showed little resistance and desire to be playing at the highest level of Zimbabwean football, the Castle Lager Premiership.
While Talen Vision face Bulawayo Warriors, Hwange will be at Chakona Stadium up against rivals Megawatt in what will not be an easy task.
The power utility sponsored side has pride to play for and are keen on finishing in a better position than their present sixth position.
Talen Vision have 57 points while Hwange are on 54.
Jordan FC of Filabusi had Jefias Sibanda on target with a brace, scoring the opener and third goal as Simba Chibanguza added another in their 3-2 win over Imbizo at Lookout Masuku Barracks yesterday.
Maverick Dube and Craig Nonxoloba scored for a fast improving Imbizo in a match handled by Christine Mpaza.
With the win Jordan moved to third place after Nkayi United were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Victoria Falls Herentals on Friday.
Jordan are now on 53 points while Nkayi are on 51 with the two teams having a mathematical chance to win the title if both Talen Vision and Hwange falter.
