TALEN Vision FC shot to the top of the Southern Region Division One League table after beating Arenel 1-0 on Saturday.
A solitary strike by Adonis Nyoni ensured that the PSL hopefuls leapfrogged Bulawayo City into pole position.
City’s quest to make a quick return to the topflight suffered a setback when they were thrashed 3-0 by Makomo in Hwange on the same day.
The former Premiership side has not won in its last three encounters. Prior to encountering Makomo, City had played to two consecutive goalless draws against Bosso 90 and CIWU.
The drop in form has seen fellow title favorites Talen Vision taking advantage and now enjoy a one point lead and will be hoping to remain in pole position up to the end of the season.
Talen Vision have now amassed 30 points from 14 games and their coach Mkhuphali Masuku said : “I think as of now we are still in the race. Being on top of the table does not make us champions so we are not reading much into that. Remember this is a marathon and there so many games to play. I think for now we are in the right direction. Our target remains being to better last season’s position.”
Meanwhile CIWU, who were inactive this weekend dropped into fifth place after Makomo and ZPC Kariba picked up maximum points. Toronto stunned Bosso 90 1-0 and moved out of the red zone.
