Barely a fortnight after the release of the trailer for the movie “Tambu — Daughter of the Soil”, Ireland-based, Zimbabwe-born actress Caroline Nyaka-Chana is optimistic that local film enthusiasts are in for a real treat.

Starring a star-studded cast led by Freddy “Kapfupi” Manjalima, Cody “Rank Marshall” Tinker, Darling-ton “Dhadza D” Zhanje and Nyaka-Chana as Tambu, fans have embraced it as a potential thriller.

Judging by the feedback from fans, the trailer of “Tambu — Daughter of the Soil”, which features the song “Mengdhadhe,” was expertly crafted in all aspects — lighting, sound, picture quality, direction and stunning costumes — capturing the storyline of this blockbuster movie set to grace the big screen soon.

Hordes of fans were excited by Kapfupi’s triumphant return, which brought back memories of the revered actor who rose to acclaim at the turn of the century.

One fan, @Faith03fff, could not hide her admiration for Kapfupi in a comment shared on YouTube: “Wow, nice one, Kapfupi.”

Another equally excited fan praised Kapfupi for complimenting the entire cast, stating, “The King of Comedy is back,” posted by John Murumbi. A third fan, Clement Munashe Chitaunhike, lauded Nyaka-Chana for investing in an impressive ward-robe, posting, “Tarira Masmarts.” Another fan was blown away by the video, which is now trending online, commenting, “Wow, beautiful. Nice one, madam.” This comment referred to Caroline Nyaka-Chana, a woman of many talents.

Continuously evolving and discovering new abilities, Nyaka-Chana has established herself as a quintuple threat.

For our readers, a “quintuple threat” refers to a creative individual who excels in five distinct fields, expanding on the concept of a “triple threat,” which describes proficiency in three areas. Nyaka-Chana’s strengths encompass dance, film and television, music, theatre, and television pre-senting.

She has not only excelled in these areas but has also offered her services as an arts consultant.

Raised in Avondale, Harare, and having spent over 20 years overseas, her journey has been one of evolution and reinvention.

The Zimbabwe-born and Ireland-based quintuple threat artist is raising the country’s flag high through her creative exploits, which have seen her share the stage with international stars.

Nyaka-Chana has been involved in the production of international movies and series in Hollywood, Australia and the United Kingdom. She returned to Zimbabwe a few months ago, where she tracked down Kapfupi and collaborated on a new movie.

“I have always wanted to work with Kapfupi, having managed him long before I went to Europe,” shared Nyaka-Chana.

“Kapfupi was one of the people who made history with street theatre, along with the late Marabha (Charles Mapalume). It was easy working with him on this movie.

“Like I said in previous interviews, I once managed them before I moved overseas, but I always stay in touch with him. I would have loved to include Marabha, but unfortunately, he is no longer with us. We had to improvise and bring in new and familiar faces for this movie.”

Nyaka-Chana revealed that she was impressed by Kapfupi’s professional conduct. Kapfupi’s manager and elder brother, Sam Manjalima, expressed gratitude for Nyaka-Chana’s appreciation of the comedian’s talent.

“We know Carol Nyaka-Chana, and we are humbled that she still appreciates my brother’s talent when others have already written him off. It’s very rare for someone of her calibre to fly all the way from overseas to work with us and express her desire to collaborate,” he stated in a recent interview with Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub.

“We are going to shoot a blockbuster film with her, and we have accepted the offer. Of course, it will take some time, but it’s important because we want to keep Kapfupi busy. As his handler, I believe Kapfupi’s strength lies in drama and acting, so we want him to return to where he belongs and win back the hearts of many,” explained the manager.

“Of course, he is also a talented musician, but we realised that he was sitting on his talent. He nailed it as a musician and was actually surprised by his own abilities. At the moment, he is in high spirits, and we are happy that he has managed to connect with Nyaka-Chana.”
