MANIKA Tangawabaya announced his arrival in professional boxing with a first-round knockout of Gweru’s Emmanuel Chikosha at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) on Friday.

The bout was part of the boxing tournament held during the KUZANA Sport and Creatives Economy Expo and promoted by Bigfish Promotions, owned by Modicai Donga.

Chikosha had talked up his chances before the fight, describing Tangawabaya as a “fat calf” he would beat in the ring.

However, the 22-year-old Tangawabaya had the last laugh, knocking out his opponent before some fans had even taken their seats.

The youngster was delighted with his quick victory.

“It was an easy fight, I am happy, I knocked him out, he was talking too much,” said Tangawabaya.
