The Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) and the Tanzanian Embassy in Tokyo launched a campaign that has proven to be effective in the preferred economic opportunities.
The campaign caught the attention of Japanese businesses. These investors intend to visit Tanzania to further discuss possibilities for investment.
A report by the Tanzanian newspaper, The Citizen, revealed that over 100 Japanese investors are looking to visit Tanzania in October, as a result of a successful campaign executed by The Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) and the Tanzanian Embassy in Tokyo.
The campaign began on May 27, 2024, and wrapped up on July 10, 2024, reaching key Japanese cities such as Tokyo, Osaka, Shizuoka, and Chiba. These investors will be visiting Tanzania to continue negotiations and finalise existing investment agreements with key Tanzanian stakeholders.
The Tanzanian ambassador to Japan, Baraka Luavanda, and the executive director of the TIC, Gilead Teri, are responsible for promoting investment opportunities in Tanzania to Japanese investors as a consequence of their leadership in implementing the campaign.
Additionally, the TIC and the Japan International Cooperation Agency would be exchanging experts to channel more investments from Japan to Tanzania, according to a press statement released to The Citizen.
The Statement reads partly: “The campaign has achieved significant success in attracting and encouraging Japanese companies to invest in Tanzania.”
According to the statement, the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) alongside the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) aided with the execution of the campaign.
Japan and Tanzania have enjoyed a good economic relationship with Japanese investments creating wealth and employment in the East African country. — Business Insider Africa.
