ZIMBABWE’S Moses Tarakinyu put on a spirited performance at the BMW Berlin Marathon this Sunday to secure a top 20 finish.
Tarakinyu finished 17th in 2 hours 8 minutes 26 seconds in the men’s race that featured some of the world’s top marathon runners.
Ethiopia’s Guye Adola romped to victory in 2 hours 2 minutes 50 seconds.
Adola’s fellow countryman Gemechu Dida Diriba was second in 2 hours 3 minutes 19 seconds.
Tanzania’s Gabriel Geay clocked 2 hours 3 minutes 59 seconds to finish third.
Zimbabwe had two athletes competing at this year’s Berlin Marathon with Tendai Zimuto stopping the clock at 2 hours 10 minutes 27 seconds to place 27.
Zimuto and Tarakinyu are some of the distance runners targeted by the National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe to try and secure slots at the World Athletics Championships to be hosted by China next year.
